I’m Perrone, the independent developer behind Bunker Rats, a free multiplayer game. This page explains what information the game uses, what other players can see, and how to contact me about your data.
Information the game uses
Bunker Rats uses Steam to verify your account and provide multiplayer, player identity, voice chat, and achievements.
The game uses your Steam ID, display name, avatar, authentication results, and lobby identifiers. Your Steam ID and most recently received display name are stored with your game profile. Avatars come from Steam and are not stored in the profile database.
The game does not receive your Steam password, Steam Guard code, or payment details.
Your saved profile includes progression, inventory, storage, scrip, upgrades, unlocks, emotes, Bunker Card selections, and gameplay statistics. Multiplayer records include session and raid participation, outcomes, rewards, and information needed to handle reconnects and prevent lost or duplicated progress.
Display, audio, controls, and similar settings are generally stored on your device.
What other players can see
Players in your session can see information needed for multiplayer, including your Steam identity, lobby presence, and gameplay actions.
Authenticated players can view your Bunker Card, including your Steam ID and display name, progression statistics, per-weapon kill totals, and selected title, background, frame, and badges.
The game also displays community-wide totals calculated from player profiles. These totals do not identify individual players.
Voice and text chat
Proximity voice chat uses Steam’s voice and networking services so nearby players can hear you. The game does not record voice conversations or store them in the profile service.
Bunker text chat sends messages through the session host to other players currently in the bunker, alongside your Steam display name. Messages are held temporarily in memory. The game does not save chat history to disk or send it to the profile service. Your local history is cleared when you leave the session.
Muting a player blocks their voice and text chat for that session.
Other players may record gameplay or voice, take screenshots, or copy messages using their own tools. I do not control those copies or recordings.
Reports and technical records
Player reports can include the reporting and reported players’ Steam IDs, a category, a written description, and the related session. Moderation records include decisions, reasons, restrictions, and review notes.
The game checks gameplay and profile requests for invalid activity. Rejected requests may create security records for review. These checks do not automatically issue permanent bans.
Server and security logs may include IP addresses, request times, requested routes, response statuses, and error information.
Why I use this information
I use this information to run the game, save progress, support multiplayer and communication, answer player requests, investigate problems, and prevent cheating and abuse.
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, I rely on providing the game service you request, legitimate interests in maintaining and protecting the game and its players, and meeting legal obligations where relevant.
I do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising or tracking across services.
Hosting and service providers
I operate Bunker Rats from the United States. The backend and database are hosted with Hetzner in the United States, and database backups are stored with Backblaze in the United States. Information from players in other countries is therefore processed in the US.
Steam handles authentication and platform features under Valve’s Privacy Policy. Hosting and infrastructure providers handle information needed to operate the game, store data, and maintain backups.
Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate abuse or protect players, the service, or legal rights.
How long information is kept
Your profile, progression, inventory, and related gameplay records may remain while the service operates or until a valid deletion request is completed.
Temporary and moderation records are normally removed on these schedules:
- Temporary sign-in, session, and duplicate-request records: within approximately 7 days after use, expiry, or revocation, depending on the record.
- Raid settlement duplicate-prevention records and general administrative audit records: approximately 90 days.
- Resolved reports and security events: approximately 180 days after review.
- Unresolved security events: approximately 1 year.
- Expired or revoked moderation actions: approximately 1 year.
Open reports remain until resolved. Active restrictions remain while needed. Some records may be kept longer to investigate abuse, enforce restrictions, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.
Deleted information may remain in existing backups until those backups are removed through the normal retention cycle. Backups are not used for ordinary gameplay.
Messages sent through the website’s contact form remain in its private inbox until deleted and may also remain in backups. See the website Privacy page for details.
Protecting information
I use safeguards including encrypted connections, restricted administrative access, protected authentication tokens, and server-side checks. No online service can guarantee complete security.
Never send your Steam password, Steam Guard code, authentication ticket, or other login secrets through chat or the contact form.
Privacy requests
You can contact me to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information associated with your account.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to receive a portable copy, restrict processing, object to certain uses, or complain to your local data-protection authority.
Use the contact form and select Bunker Rats - Privacy/Data Request. Include a reply email address, your 17-digit Steam ID, and a description of your request. I may need to verify that you control the Steam account before completing it.
Deleting your profile can permanently remove your progression, inventory, unlocks, and statistics. Some information may need to remain to protect other players, enforce active restrictions, or meet legal obligations.
Children
Bunker Rats is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact me so I can review it.
Changes
I may update this notice when the game or its data handling changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
